Today we went to Dachau with the girls. Didn't have time to see Neuschwanstein. Watched the Glockenspeil at 5pm. Hopped on a 6:15 train to Zurich, then Bern. We'll get in at 12:26am. Ted got a new passport. We were supposed to meet them at 6, but obviously we'll be late. Hopefully they went to Budapest. Then we can take the first train there tomorrow.
Last night went to a new beer hall which was closer & better. Name: Mathaser Bierstadt. Right on Bayer Street, next to the hotel.
I have 5 mugs/glasses in my bag right now. Two 1 Liter mugs (give 1 to Ted), Two .5 Liter Guiness glasses (give 1 to Brad), one .33 Liter Budweiser (Czech).
I have to watch the spending. It was a great time (Munich), but expensive. Cost: 100 DM cash, 73 DM credit (hotel).
John, the guy I met from Northern Ireland, told me about the British Soldier who would be up for parole soon - and the trouble it would cause. Today it came true. I read it in USA Today how upset Ireland was and that it demanded clemency for 100 IRA suspects. John predicted that this incident would spark troubles with the IRA. The soldier murdered a teenage Irish girl & was given life in prison. We'll see what happens.
5 July, Wednesday
In Zurich. Got to Bern last night at 12:26am, just to come back 1.5 hours to Zurich, then 13 hours to Budapest. Wish we would have been a little more organized. The trip from Munich, had we gone straight to Budapest, would have been about 10 hours (versus 5 hrs Munich to Bern & 15 hrs Bern to Budapest). We'll bet to Budapest about 10:30 tonight.
